Neil Danilowicz

MEF, Director of Test and Certification

Neil brings over 30 years of networking experience to the SD-WAN and SASE community. Neil has extensive experience in networking (Layer 2, Layer 3, and Layer 7), security and cloud technologies. Neil has expertise in building standards, implementation procedures, and certification processes and methodologies.

Prior to joining MEF, Neil was a Principal Architect in the Office of the CTO at Versa Networks. At Versa Networks, Neil was responsible for the design of workflows for SD-LAN and SD-WAN, and unique customer solutions. Neil was instrumental in developing the CALEA compliant solutions within Versa Networks as well as the design of the Concerto orchestrator.

Previously, Neil retired from Verizon Communications after 25 years of service. At Verizon, Neil was a lead engineer responsible for Proof of Concepts, Designs, and certifications of emerging technologies such as SD-WAN and SD-Access. While at Verizon, Neil standardized the corporate network configurations for routers, switches, terminal servers, and access points. Neil was instrumental in developing a dynamic and centralized disaggregated switch solution.

Neil edits the MEF W117.1 SASE Revision and co-edits MEF W119 Universal Edge projects. Neil was instrumental in enabling MEF to publish the industry’s first SASE Service Standard, MEF 117 SASE Service Attributes and Service Framework. Neil, also, served as a contributing member to MEF W70.1 SD-WAN, MEF W88 Application Security, MEF W105 SD-WAN Performance and Service Readiness Testing, and MEF W118 Zero Trust Framework.

Neil lives in Connecticut with his beautiful wife and daughter. He loves watching NASCAR, rooting for the NY Jets, Boston Celtics, Toronto Bluejays and Maple Leafs, traveling with his family to their second home in China, and collecting works of Art.
