Bob Patterson is an Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions Architect in GSA’s Technical Account Management Division, Information Technology Category, Federal Acquisition Service. The Federal Acquisition Service provides buying platforms and acquisition services to federal, military, state and local government entities for a broad range of items from office supplies to motor vehicles to information technology and telecommunications products and services.
Bob’s approach to enterprise networking is holistic, always with the goal of ensuring that the myriad IT products and services, including “anything-as-a-service” models, cloud platforms, and physical devices of today’s modern network operations interoperate as intended. His work encompasses cybersecurity, data, voice, video, routers, switches, circuits, firewalls, software defined wide area networks/secure access service edge controllers and appliances, wireless/Wi-Fi controllers and access points, post-quantum computing, and generative and predictive artificial intelligence. Bob has held many industry certifications in his IT career, including Cisco CCNP R&S, CCNP Security, CCNP Voice, Cisco ASA Specialist, Cisco IOS Security Specialist, Cisco IPS Specialist, Cisco VPN Security Specialist, Microsoft MCSE, and Citrix certifications. He received advanced-level § 4103 recognition from the National Security Agency and the Committee on National Security Systems. Bob also taught CCNA and CCNP courses at a Cisco Networking Academy in Philadelphia.
Bob entered government service in 2011 with the DoD’s Defense Logistics Agency in a network and INFOSEC operations position in DLA’s Philadelphia, PA, data center. Bob joined GSA in 2015. In his current FAS position, Bob serves on a team of technical subject matter experts interfacing closely with GSA customers to modernize their network and IT operations with offerings from GSA’s Best in Class EIS contract vehicle. Bob holds FAC-COR Level 2, FAC-P/PM Senior Level, and FAC-P/PM IT Core Plus Specialization certifications.
Bob is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and the Washington and Lee University School of Law.
